Mobile hard disk / U disk partition into RAW format solution.

The correct process for dealing with RAW partitions is to recover data first and then fix partition problems. Of course, if there is no important data in the partition, or the data has been backed up, then the data recovery process can be avoided and the RAW can be restored directly.

It should be noted that some online tutorials recommend that users perform CHKDSK operations on RAW partitions in an attempt to recover data in this way. However, CHKDSK operations on damaged partitions are risky. Because in many cases, this command does not achieve the desired results, the result is that RAW partitions are overrepaired, file systems are further damaged, and data that could easily be recovered is damaged. In addition, RAW partitions should not be formatted or bad path repaired before data is recovered.

Next, let's look at the correct process.

Step 1: Connect the disk that will need to recover data to the computer. Download and run RAW data recovery software iFinD.

iFinD software is chosen here because it can recover data from RAW partitions more efficiently. In some cases, without scanning, the software can list the data in the partition directly, which can save time and energy greatly.

Step 2: Select the RAW partition in iFinD, and then click the "Browse Files" tab in the middle of the software, as shown below.

If the partition damage is not very serious, you can see the data directly in the software. If you can see the data, you can directly copy the desired file to another normal partition. If the data is not displayed in the software, go to the next step.

Step 3: Intelligent loading NTFS partition: Select the partition that needs to recover data, and then click the "Tool" - > "Intelligent loading current partition" option, as shown in the following figure.

Reminder: This function is specially designed for damaged NTFS partitions. In most cases, damaged NTFS partitions, such as partitions can not be opened, prompt formatting, RAW formatting, etc., can try to use this function to restore data. If the partition is not seriously damaged, this function can directly list the data in the damaged partition, eliminating the time to scan the data.

If this feature does not list the data, or the partitions that need to be recovered are not NTFS format before they are damaged, try the next step.

Step 4: Select the RAW partition and click the "Restore Files" button on the toolbar, which will pop up the Restore Files window. Check the "Complete Recovery" option and click the "Start" button to let the software start searching for lost files, as shown below.

Be careful:

Partitions become RAW format, partitions are not lost, but damaged, so it is necessary to restore files from damaged disks. The "search partition" function is used to retrieve the lost partition, so the "search partition" function here is not suitable.

If you want to retrieve the deleted files before the partition becomes RAW, you can also check the "Restore the deleted files" option at the same time.

The option of "extra scan for known file types" should also be checked, especially when partitions are severely damaged, such as directory structure parts, which must be checked to find as much recoverable data as possible.

Step 5: Preview the document.

When the software scans, it lists the files it finds in real time and previews them when it sees them. By previewing the file, you can find the desired file and check whether the file is damaged.

Step 6: Copy the required files to other disks. To finally complete the recovery process, check the data you want to restore, then right-click the mouse and select the "Copy to the specified folder" option.

Step 7: Look at the restored data and see if the files have been successfully restored. Make sure that the file is OK, you can format the RAW partition. It can be formatted in Windows or iFinD.

summary

Moving hard drives into RAW format seems to be a very complex problem, but it's actually very easy to solve. If you want to recover raw partition, you must use some data recovery software, When the storage device becomes RAW format, as long as there is no particularly serious hardware failure, users can easily use software to recover the data successfully. It should be noted that in order to ensure the recovery effect, do not format RAW partitions or CHKDSK operations before restoring data. So far, if you still have doubts about this issue or need other help, please feel free to contact the iFinD expert team.
